1. What is the Hype App?
Hype App is a fun and positive way to send and receive anonymous compliments by voting in polls with people in your network. It's designed to help you feel good and connect with friends and peers.
2. How do the polls work?
You will be presented with a preset complimentary question and four choices of people you know. You vote for the person you think fits the question best.
3. How does receiving votes work?
When someone votes for you in a poll, you will receive an anonymous notification with the poll question and hints about the voter's identity, such as their gender, year, and school or university.
4. Is Hype App safe to use?
Absolutely. Your safety is our top priority. There is no direct messaging feature and the only way to interact is by voting in polls, so no one can contact and speak to you in the app directly. The app is designed to be a safe space for positive interactions.
5. How does Hype App prevent bullying?
Hype App's design limits negative interactions. There are no open text fields for bullying or harassment. Compliments are pre-written, ensuring all interactions are positive and kind.
6. Who appears in my polls?
Your polls will include names of your friends on the app. If you don't have enough friends on the app, it will use names from your school or university or device contacts, to fill the polls. Voting on device contacts does not send them notifications.
7. How do I register for the Hype App?
To register, you need a valid phone number. During registration, you will select your school or university and year, provide your name and gender, and upload a photo.
8. How can I add friends on Hype App?
You can add friends using the 'Friends' tab in the app. Once added, their names will be prioritised to appear in your polls.
9. What is the feed feature?
The feed shows what you and your friends have been picked for in various polls, including the poll questions and anonymous hints about the voters.
10. How do I delete my account and erase my data?
To delete your account and erase all data the app has stored about you, you should navigate through the following flow: Inbox tab > Settings > Delete account > Delete account (confirmation).
